Abstract

Freedom of life is an absolute right that must be possessed by everyone without exception, as it enhances the quality of life. The frequent occurrences of violence and persecution raise questions about the meaning of the right to freedom and life. One pertinent issue involves Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) working abroad. Many Indonesian citizens choose to work overseas for various reasons; however, factors influencing their status as migrant workers impact whether they receive legally protected wages and maintain their rights as Indonesian citizens. Media reports on the persecution of TKI have stirred public concern, prompting various parties to address these issues. Diplomatic interventions have been observed, such as violence against TKI by the Saudi Arabian ambassador. Several laws regulate such incidents, including Diplomatic and Consular Law. This study, titled "Legal Protection of Experienced Indonesian Migrant Workers: Diplomatic and Consular Law," analyzes the legal assistance available under diplomatic and consular law for citizens working abroad.
